Fondation Wilmotte : Concours 2008-2009

W Award 2010

European architectural Competition

The Fondation Wilmotte launches, in 2010, a new edition of the Prix W. This competition ambitions to emphasize the importance of contemporary graft in the preservation of European heritage, and its evolution in our contemporary world.

The competition is aimed at current and recently graduated European architects. The Prix W 2010, which deals with the rehabilitation of the French National Archives former warehouse in Versailles, proposes a reflexion on a contemporary heritage building integrated in a historic urban fabric.

The prizes and scholarships are awarded by an international jury made of professionals, architects, artists and renowed journalists.

The 2010 competition theme
The French National Archives former warehouse's site will have to be rehabilitated. The aeration of the plot, the implementation of housing spaces, the creation of offices and the conservation of an archive space will enable the participants to express their sensitivity regarding contemporary graft.
This year's theme goes beyond the traditional pattern. It is rooted in Versaille's historic and contemporary heritage, and offers interesting creative challenges to the participants.
